I’m a transplant from Huntington Beach, California, however I
have lived in the Puget Sound area for 38 years and really love
calling Mount Vernon my home. I have been practicing yoga for
24 years and teaching in Seattle and on the East Side since
2007, or 16 years. I am so grateful for all of the yoga classes I
have practiced in and taught because I feel I learned , and still
learn something each time I get on my mat.
What brought me to pursue yoga is some advice given to me by
my Ayurvedic Naturopath. I was an avid runner at the time, not
long distances but everyday consistent type of runner, I was
back in school, Bastyr University, my two daughters both young
and I was running my own business as a Dental Lab Technician
( I built a Lab into my home so I could work there ). I couldn’t
figure out why I felt fatigued so much of the time. My doctor said
I needed to try yoga in place of running some of the times a
means of stress relief. The timing was perfect as I was starting
to have some knee pain after my longer runs. I loved it
immediatly . I finished my undergrad work at Bastyr, opened a
counseling practice, got a divorce, sold my Lab, started referring
my clients to other therapists, got remarried, and turned to Yoga
full time.
I have had the good fortune to practice and teach yoga in
several different studios in Seattle. I co-owned a yoga studio for
a brief period of time and found out first hand what a tough
business it is to keep afloat. I have taught at Quantum Health
and Yoga, off and on since 2017 and again am so grateful to be
a part of this incredible community that Scott has worked so
hard to build.
Today, I hike daily with my best buddy, Ollie the dog, as I prefer
the outdoors to being inside. I bowl on a league, I take a dance
class weekly, I volunteer at Habitat for Humanity, and am
blessed with two daughters and their families which include
amazing grandkids, ages 2, 6 and 12 years old.
I believe that a yoga practice is a journey of spirit. And since
body and mind are one, the movement and the breath and the
intention that comes with a yoga practice, all feed the spirit. It is
with humble gratitude that I teach the practice of yoga today.
Aside from sharing time with my grandchildren, it is one of my greatest joys in life.
